Welcome to Year 5!
In Year 5 you will find me (Miss Kitson), Mr Mollard and Miss Thorpe along with a class of 29 children. The children have become independent learners over the years and we will continue this as we are approaching the final year of primary school! We expect the children to take ownership over their learning and to be resilient when trying things they find hard. We look forward to another year of hard work, full of achievements and exciting opportunities.

Our Trip to Jodrell Bank
In our science lessons we have been learning about 'Earth & Space'. We have also enjoyed focusing our reading and writing lessons on texts based around space. Jodrell Bank was an excellent trip to extend our learning further!

Our Georgian Walk
In our history lessons we have been focusing on the Georgian era. This also links with our D&T topic where we will be looking at Georgian architecture and making our own model of a Georgian building. On our walk around Congleton Town centre, we looked at the architecture of the buildings, there are some great ones to look at on Moody Street. We also discussed the local history such as the Silk Milk in the Industrial Revolution. We were very lucky to be able to visit St Peter's Church as it is the only Gerogian church in Congleton. The staff there told us lots of information about the church plus the history involving Sir Thomas Reade who used to live behind the church.
